Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate a discount?
Multiply the original price by the discount percentage, then subtract that amount from the original price. For 25% off $200: discount = $50, final price = $150.
Can I add successive discounts?
No. Each discount applies to the reduced price. A 20% discount followed by 10% reduces 100 to 72: the combined discount is 28%.
How do I recover the original price?
Divide the sale price by (1 − discount / 100). A sale price of 80 after a 20% discount gives an original price of 100. A 100% discount does not uniquely determine the original price.
